Frequently Asked Questions
Direct answers from our engineering team to the questions we hear most from buyers evaluating presswood pallet production.
- What raw materials can the production line process?
- Sawdust, wood shavings, offcuts, demolition wood, branches, and old pallets. The wood crusher handles any form factor. Hardwoods and softwoods both work, though softwood is easier to process. The key constraint is moisture content — we can handle up to 60% MC with the right dryer size.
- What’s the minimum viable production volume?
- Below 30,000 pallets/year, it’s more economical to purchase finished pallets. Our smallest semi-auto line targets 30,000-80,000 pallets/year. This is the threshold where self-manufacturing becomes financially attractive, assuming you have low-cost raw material access.
- Can I just buy the press without the dryer and crusher?
- We strongly advise against this. The press requires feedstock at ≤5mm particle size and 8-12% moisture content. If your existing preparation equipment can reliably meet these specs, a standalone press is possible. But in our experience, the #1 cause of failed deployments is inadequate material preparation. We include the full chain in standard quotations specifically to prevent this.
- Are presswood pallets really ISPM-15 exempt?
- Yes, permanently. Presswood (molded wood) pallets are classified as “Processed Wood Material” under international phytosanitary standards. The 200°C pressing process destroys all biological organisms far beyond the ISPM-15 threshold (56°C for 30 minutes). No fumigation, no IPPC stamps, no certificates needed. - How long does installation take?
- Semi-auto line: 10-15 days from unloading to first pallet. Full-auto line: 20-30 days. Our installation engineers travel to your site for the full commissioning process, including operator training. Foundation and electrical preparation should be completed before equipment arrives.
- What’s the realistic payback period?
- 12-18 months for semi-auto lines, 18-24 months for full-auto, assuming standard utilization rates. The payback is heavily influenced by your current pallet purchasing cost and whether you have free/low-cost raw material. See real case study numbers →
- Do you provide after-sales support?
- Yes. Every press is equipped with 4G remote PLC access for real-time diagnostics. We maintain inventory of all high-wear spare parts. Our engineers provide video-guided troubleshooting via WhatsApp/WeChat. Learn about remote support →
- Can I visit your factory before ordering?
- Absolutely. We welcome factory visits and actively encourage them. You’ll see our CNC machining center, welding bays, mold tooling shop, and our own presswood pallet production line running live. We can also arrange visits to nearby customer installations. Schedule a factory visit →
