In the logistics packaging industry, pallets, as an effective transmission tool, can greatly increase the convenience of people in the transfer of goods, and at the same time can achieve the standardization and normalization of the packaging of goods.
Compressed wood pallets are a new type of pallets made of waste wood, discarded crops (straw, peanut shells, bamboo), etc. as raw materials and molded by applying MDI adhesive. Led by the “dual-carbon” policy, MDI molded pallets with multiple low-carbon attributes have begun to be favored by modern low-carbon enterprises. So how is it green, environmentally friendly and low carbon?
Compressed wood pallets use waste wood, plant fiber, agricultural and forestry residues as raw materials, which is conducive to saving China’s valuable forest resources, but also helps to make full use of bamboo and wood processing waste. Moreover, the pallets can be recycled repeatedly, and the used molded timber pallets can be broken and pressed into new pallets after breakage, which contributes to the green recycling process.
Due to the high bonding strength of MDI adhesive, the amount of MDI adhesive added is only 1/5 of the amount of traditional urea-formaldehyde adhesive added, which can effectively reduce carbon emissions while reducing the use of chemical adhesives.
On the one hand, there is no need to dry raw materials such as bamboo and wood to absolute dryness (usually 10-15%) during the production of molded timber pallet, which significantly reduces drying energy consumption. In the hot pressing stage, the hot pressing time is reduced from the traditional 300s to 150s, which saves a lot of steam and electricity consumption. On the other hand, the curing of MDI adhesive is a low energy-consuming process, and it is a chemical exothermic reaction, which can also reduce part of the production energy consumption in the production process. In addition, in use, 40-foot container can carry 1650 pieces of goods, while solid wood pallets and plastic pallets can only carry 450 pieces of goods, so the efficiency of resource utilization can be improved.
MDI glue does not contain formaldehyde, which reduces the harm of formaldehyde to workers during the production process and ensures the occupational health of workers, and end customers do not have to worry about formaldehyde release when storing and using it.
In view of the above low-carbon and environmental protection attributes, molded timber pallet will send a valuable piece of green for the modern logistics packaging industry, promote the green upgrade of the industry, and contribute to China’s carbon reduction cause.
