Charcoal Briquette Plant Sawdust Dryer: Removing the Front-End Capacity Bottleneck

DRYR | INDUSTRIAL SAWDUST DRYER FOR CHARCOAL BRIQUETTE LINES

The Capacity Bottleneck Starts Before the Briquette Press

When a charcoal briquette plant expands, the briquette press and carbonization furnace are often added first. The front end can then become the real constraint: if wet sawdust drying cannot keep pace, downstream equipment is underfed and the whole line runs at the rate of its slowest step. This guide explains how a continuous sawdust dryer for charcoal briquette production can be matched to water evaporation, with four Dryr models covering about 0.8–2 t/h and a drum that can be discussed at 17–18 m for longer residence time and greater evaporation capacity.

Why the Old Drying Route Can Starve an Expanding Line

Natural sun drying and manual or open-air drying may look inexpensive, but weather, floor space, labor, and drying time make the feed condition difficult to control during expansion. A small airflow dryer or sawdust flash dryer can fit some fine, relatively light-duty applications, yet it is not automatically suited to larger particles, higher initial moisture, or a continuous charcoal briquette line. Selecting a dryer by nominal finished-product throughput alone can leave the thermal section short of the evaporation duty. Initial moisture, particle size, target outlet moisture, heat source, and operating hours need to be checked together.

Size the Sawdust Drying Machine by Water Evaporation

Dryr provides four model ranges for an initial capacity discussion: H-1010 uses a 1000 mm drum, a 4 kW main motor, and a 7.5 kW induced-draft fan for about 0.8–1 t/h; H-1212 uses a 1200 mm drum, a 5.5 kW main motor, and a 7.5 kW fan for about 1–1.2 t/h; H-1512 uses a 1500 mm drum, a 7.5 kW main motor, and an 11 kW fan for about 1.2–1.5 t/h; H-1815 uses an 1800 mm drum, an 11 kW main motor, and a 15 kW fan for about 1.5–2 t/h. These are reference ranges, not a substitute for a water-evaporation calculation. A project can then reserve practical headroom rather than matching the dryer exactly to today's briquette press rate. The documented outlet moisture target is below 10% when feed and process conditions support it; the final value must be confirmed from the customer's material and process data.

Use Drum Residence Time and System Layout as Evidence

The rotary drum dryer creates a continuous hot-air drying path. Internal lifting flights raise and disperse the sawdust so the hot air can contact the material, while the drum turns on roller supports through a girth gear, pinion, gearbox, and motor drive. The selected feed-end image shows the hopper, cylindrical shell, and supports; the system image shows the drum connected to process ducting, a blower, cyclone separation, and a control cabinet. For a higher evaporation duty, Dryr can be discussed with a drum length of about 17–18 m to extend residence time, subject to engineering confirmation. Split shipment, field assembly, and commissioning should be planned for a long drum. The result is a better-defined front-end match for continuous sawdust drying, helping the charcoal briquette line receive prepared material instead of waiting for the slowest process step. For a project review, send the feed moisture, particle size, target output, and heat-source details through the contact page.

  • Confirm initial sawdust moisture, target outlet moisture, and kilograms of water to remove per hour.
  • Confirm charcoal briquette line feed rate and leave practical capacity headroom after process data is reviewed.
  • Confirm sawdust particle size, heat source, dust control, and whether cyclone or baghouse filtration is required.
  • Confirm site space, split shipment, field assembly, commissioning, and downstream conveying before finalizing the dryer.
