Industrial Sawdust Dryer as an EPC Line Item: Standardized Drum Build, Assembled Structure and Optional PLC Control That Keep After-Sales Risk Off the Integrator

Where an EPC Owns a Drying Stage It Did Not Design

An EPC contractor that hands over a pellet, briquette or molded pallet line signs one after-sales number for the whole plant, including the drying stage it did not design. This page follows that position: where a standardized industrial sawdust dryer, rather than a yard-welded drum, keeps the service call off the integrator. The DRYR rotary sawdust dryer is built as a machined, factory-assembled drum in bolted flange sections, with an external girth gear and pinion drive, a compact footprint, a sealed drum with combined lifting plates, and optional PLC control, across H-1010 to H-1815 at 0.8 to 2 t/h with output moisture stated under 10 percent.

Why a Yard-Welded Drum Becomes the Integrator Service Call

The cheap alternative is a rotary drum built up on a yard slab: shell sections rolled and welded in place, flange faces left as welded, drum roundness set by the welder's hand rather than by a machining step, and shaft alignment checked against a string line. It runs fine while it is new. In service, an out-of-round shell loads the girth gear and pinion unevenly on every revolution, so teeth wear on one flank, the support rollers take a hammering, and the drum bearings and the inlet chute seal start leaking hot air and dust. Add a hot air furnace and an induced draft fan wired in without one coordinated load schedule, and the plant gets nuisance trips that no single supplier will own. A sawdust drying machine in that condition is not a capacity problem for the EPC, it is a call-back pattern, and one repeating dryer on a twenty-machine scope sets the reputation for the whole handover. No spare parts list and no drawing set make it easier, because nothing on a site-built drum was measured before it left.

What the DRYR Industrial Sawdust Dryer Changes in That Scope

DRYR answers with a standardized build rather than a site-fabricated one. The shell is assembled inside the factory, so roundness, flange fit and girth gear concentricity are set on tooling before the machine ships, and the drum arrives as bolted flange sections that go back together to the geometry that was measured at the works. On the long drums, out to 17 to 18 metres where residence time on wet feedstock is the real constraint, that sectioning is also what keeps the transport and the site lift plan manageable. The structure is compact, so the plot area and the civil foundation a line has to pour stay smaller than a comparable machine of the same duty, which is where an integrator's civil package usually runs over. PLC control is optional and, when it is specified, it puts feed rate, hot air furnace and induced draft fan on one cabinet and one signal chain, so the electrical schedule handed to a panel builder is one document instead of three suppliers' sketches. Combined lifting plates, temperature sensing, uniform vibration and a sealed drum with a monitored inlet chute hold the machine inside one operating envelope, shift after shift.

The Parameters, the Pictures and the Items Still Confirmed Per Project

Four tiers cover the working range. The H-1010 runs a 1000 mm drum on a 4 kW main motor and a 7.5 kW induced draft fan for 0.8 to 1 t/h, the H-1212 a 1200 mm drum on 5.5 kW and 7.5 kW for 1 to 1.2 t/h, the H-1512 a 1500 mm drum on 7.5 kW and 11 kW for 1.2 to 1.5 t/h, and the H-1815 an 1800 mm drum on 11 kW and 15 kW for 1.5 to 2 t/h. Drum internal hot air is quoted at 200 to 500 degrees Celsius with output moisture stated under 10 percent, the shell is self-insulated above 80 percent thermal efficiency at under 8 kg of coal per tonne dried, and the refractory brick lined furnace takes coal, oil, gas or the plant's own dry biomass. The first photograph is an as-built drum, and it is here for one reason: the external girth gear, pinion, gearbox and motor sit on an accessible base frame, so the drive train a maintenance crew actually touches is visible and reachable. The second image is a 3D rendering, not a site photograph, and it shows the bolted flange rings, end housings and saddle supports that carry the sectioned build. Limits are stated plainly: those figures carry no published test conditions, so tonnage and final moisture move with species, initial moisture, particle size, fuel and climate, while wear part life, foundation loads and the electrical schedule are confirmed per project, and no CE certificate is published today.
