Wood log chipper machine for wood recyclers whose infeed is demolition wood, MDF, plywood and nailed pallets – not logs. Where the metal boundary actually sits.
Log chipper choices for presswood lines when you cannot hire a chipper specialist. What the design needs to give a general mechanic, and what still needs factory support.
Why the rotary drum chipper at the front of the line sets the floor on cost per pallet – and what buyers forget to count on the maintenance day.
A new export presswood pallet plant loses accounts when chip geometry drifts during a capacity ramp — one failed dimensional or load test ends the qualification. A stationary wood chipper holds chip spec because the machine is fixed, the knife gap is recorded, the sizing screen is calibrated, and the recovered-wood intake records exist at your own gate. This article is about the process discipline that follows from the installation choice.
A presswood pallet plant selling into the EU, the US and Japan is audited on its chip preparation stage, not only on its finished pallets. Chip-size drift shows up as dimensional and load-test failures in buyer qualification, outsourced chips leave a traceability gap, and the EU rulebook itself is switching: Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC is repealed on 20 January 2027 and replaced by Regulation (EU) 2023/1230. This article covers what an electric wood chipper has to document before that date.
Most new presswood pallet plants start by buying chips from a regional supplier. That avoids capex in year one, but the moment a stable ISPM 15 export order lands, outsourced chips turn into the supply ceiling: price volatility, moisture you do not control, and a per-ton cost that grows with your volume. A drum type wood chipper in three capacity tiers (45 / 55 / 110 kW) is the staged-capex path that breaks that ceiling without forcing the plant into a European turnkey line priced for a 30 t/h plant it will not run for years.
A new presswood pallet plant usually faces two capex traps: buy an industrial wood chipper sized for a 10 t/h line and tie up capital before sales arrive, or buy the cheapest 4 t/h unit and cap your growth in year two. A three-tier drum chipper lineup (45 / 55 / 110 kW) and a single-section vs full-line purchase split are how buyers walk between those two traps.
A wood chip making machine cannot dry wood chips, but it can make the upstream feed more consistent for presswood pallet drying. Learn how Shred supports chip preparation, model selection, and a controlled pallet-line process.
How EMP Shred matches a wood chipping machine to presswood pallet line throughput, with 45–110 kW models, 4–12 t/h capacity, and 30–35 mm first-stage chips before hammer milling.
A presswood pallet line can be capped by its first chipping stage. This guide explains how an electric stationary wood chipper machine with 45, 55, or 110 kW can match 4–5, 6–8, or 8–12 t/h chip preparation demand, while keeping 30–35 mm first-stage chips distinct from final hammer-mill sizing.
